Uh oh...2 months since my last post! I wonder if I have any readers left? The past 2 months have been a little emotional for me as I've been torn between work and my life back home in LA. It hasn't been easy trying to find a balance between the two and I finally came to the conclusion that financially it wasn't going to be responsible or reasonable for EJ and the dogs to move up here. As a result, I told my boss that I would like to transfer back down to a store in So Cal as they have not yet opened the other two stores in Nor Cal and rent would not be reasonable for a bigger apartment where I am at now. It broke my heart a little bit to make this decision because I wanted it to work out so much but I felt a great sense of relief after I said it and I knew that it was the right decision. At Kim's wedding, the priest said that in the end of life, your job won't be there. It will be your family and friends. This struck s cord and made me put things back in perspective that family and friends truly are important to me and that I would rather be back closer to them because I'm missing out on a lot of important things: friends having baby showers and babies and their babies growing up and just LIFE in general with getting hugs and kisses and puppy licks. I've told them that I'd like to move back sooner rather than later but would stick through the holidays if they needed me too (you have to understand after all that I'll be hard to replace!) and to hopefully make a lateral move to a position down south if there is an opportunity. So that's the update and I'm sure you want to see what I've been up to these past two months!

Wow! It has been over a month since I last posted...my apologies (I know you are all anxiously awaiting an update ;) Here is the work update: I got another raise, woo hoo! They plan on opening two more locations in Northern CA but those are all the details that we know right now. Here are some of the cakes that I've done in the past month:
Firetruck on a cupcake
Monkeys riding on bicycles (sorry, I still haven't figured out how to rotate the pictures!)
This is what 1,000 cupcakes looks like for an Easter event
Someone ordered a wedding cake to celebrate the Royal Wedding
Crickets for a bug themed party
Tropical getaway
Full sheet of carrot cake for a wedding
Rapture End of the World Cake (I have a feeling they spent their life savings on this!)
The latest trend on finding out if you are going to have a boy or a girl is to have the doctor call the bakery and then you fill the inside of your cake or cupcakes with pink or blue so when you cut into it you will be surprised (don't ask me what we would do if she was having twins! p.s. this one was a boy!)
My best friend Melinda came up to visit me during her spring break from teaching. We had a lovely time visiting Chandon which is one of my favorite champagnes to drink. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather and a relaxing day.
My friend Kim finally got married! It was a beautiful wedding and Mom and EJ were able to come up for it.
Me with the gorgeous bride
EJ and me
Mom and me
I caught a piece of the bouquet!
Of COURSE I made the wedding cake :)
And the individual sweetie pies that everyone ate instead of cake!
The following weekend was Bay to Breakers which Mom and Debbie came up to do with me:
I was part of the team from the bakery (and yes, that is "Susie" as the cupcake!)
A closeup of my celebration cake costume:
Phew! Now that we're all caught up, here's what's going on in the next couple of weeks: trip to Vegas for EJ's brother's highschool graduation, trip to Washington D.C./Boston, David's 30th Birthday, co-birthday celebration with EJ, and who else knows what will pop up unexpectedly! Thank you everyone for your continued love and support and I hope that I'm making you all proud :)

Last weekend I was sneaky and helped plan a surprise 60th Birthday party for my Mom! Of course I made a cake for her:
She loves The Beatles and you can never go wrong with party hats! I wrote a special message for her on the back of the cake:
Oh boy was she surprised! EJ tricked her into thinking that just the two of them were going to breakfast and then low and behold...family and friends were there too! Check out the video:
Mom and her co-workers (shout out to Debbie for helping me with "Operation Surprise Mom")
The fam bam that helped me organize everything:
Mom finally joins Club 60 with her girlfriends:
Blowing out her birthday candles:
Birthday gifts:
Special thanks to Dad, David, Debbie, EJ and Sharon because without them this party wouldn't have been possible. Happy 60th Birthday Mom!
