Last weekend I was sneaky and helped plan a surprise 60th Birthday party for my Mom! Of course I made a cake for her:

She loves The Beatles and you can never go wrong with party hats! I wrote a special message for her on the back of the cake:

Oh boy was she surprised! EJ tricked her into thinking that just the two of them were going to breakfast and then low and behold...family and friends were there too! Check out the video:

Mom and her co-workers (shout out to Debbie for helping me with "Operation Surprise Mom")

The fam bam that helped me organize everything:

Special thanks to Dad, David, Debbie, EJ and Sharon because without them this party wouldn't have been possible. Happy 60th Birthday Mom!

This car parked a little to close to my car for comfort:

Luckily there wasn't any damage. I did leave them a note on their windshield saying that they were inconsiderate. I took the Grey Goose to Sonnen Audi Volkswagen today because I finally reached 10K miles and it was due for service! I told them that I had brought my car to a different dealer before because my car had been making a squeaking noise and all they did was grease some parts and it went away. Well the squeak came back and it turns out there was a screw that was loose in the suspension and they fixed it so no more squeak...for now.

For dinner I tried a new recipe: Cheesy Baked Pasta With Spinach and Artichokes. It was absolutely delicious! It was so quick and easy to make and was full of flavor. I highly recommend it especially for meatless Fridays during Lent. I'm giving up potato products for Lent again this year (except for St. Patty's day because that's a holiday and an exception!)

Over the past couple of weeks I have been taking a drawing class to work on my portrait skills. I recently had a chance to test them out on a cake of a sportscaster:

The guest was really happy with their cake and even raved about it on Yelp.
At work we had been getting prepared for the Oscars:

We had Lee Unkrich, the Director of Toy Story 3, come in with his Oscar and pickup the Oscar inspired cookies and cupcakes he had ordered! (He had an inkling he would win!)

I also tried a new recipe: Mocha Fudge Bread Pudding. It was pretty quick and delicious!
I was able to make much need and long awaited trip back home and celebrated Grandpa's 90th Birthday!

EJ just finished his last class and is trying to figure out what comes next. We are still in love and still going strong :)
